Lincoln Hockey Club

Junior Section

The Lincoln Hockey Club Junior section was formed in its original format some 15 years ago at the club’s original Lindum Sports Club site by Roger Rowntree, and he was assisted by Phillip Rann and Peter Rushmere, who both took the job over completely when it moved to the North Kesteven Sports Centre’s new synthetic pitch in 1989. Sid Arkel continued the work and progressed the club forward with outstanding results in the mid-1990’s, winning Junior leagues in the Yorkshire Hockey area, with a great bunch of young players. Sadly for Lincoln, Sid had to move jobs and what was Lincoln’s loss was Hull Hockey Clubs gain! When Sid left, some of the parents took on the job of running the juniors with quite a degree of success and, once again, with another great bunch of children. After a short period of time it was decided that there had to be far more involvement from the main senior club and the junior section became integrated into the senior club to progress forward. The parents gave way to Tony Perrin, the clubs current President and Youth Development Officer (chief junior Coach). He plans the sessions for each Saturday morning between 9 and 11 am. This is when the junior training and coaching takes place and children of all ages from as young as 6 to 16 come along to the North Kesteven Sports Centre to learn how to play hockey in a most friendly and safe environment. It is the club’s policy that the main coaches are Criminal Records Bureau checked and that levels of Child Protection Certificated and First Aid Certificates have been attended. So we can assure you hat your child will be well looked after. All children are registered with the club and a form completed, this gives us all the relevant information needed in the event that an accident could possibly happen. Hockey shin guards are compulsory and Mouth guards recommended. The cost of each session is £3 – if you don’t come you don’t have to pay. To find out more about these sessions why not give Tony a call on 01522 868974 (home) or 07803 115968 (mobile). Your child could become a future County, Divisional or even International hockey player – we all have dreams!
